My name is Thomas and I have a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology, a Master's degree in General Psychology, and a Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Services. I am originally from USA but I have been living in Denpasar, Bali for almost 10 years.
My specialization is in transpersonal education and research, and I am passionate about teaching psychology, coaching, mindfulness, and all areas related to personal development. I have extensive experience teaching online and at a university-level, with a focus on academic writing, research, and project-based assignments. I have instructed university students as an academic lecturer and coordinator on psychology-based topics related to motivation, values, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, coaching approaches, mindful leadership, etc.
I teach both IB and A-level courses in psychology, with particular emphasis on the following sub-domains: Abnormal Psychology, Behavioral Psychology, Biopsychology, Cognitive Psychology, Comparative Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Cross Cultural Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Health Psychology, Humanistic Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Jungian Psychology, Personality Psychology, Social Psychology, and Transpersonal Psychology.
I also teach the following psychological research topics: Mixed Methods, Research Design and Reporting, Quantitative Research Methods, and Qualitative Research Methods.
As well, I am a native English speaker with advanced academic language skills related to psychology, research writing, and manuscript publication. I work with scholars as an American Psychological Association (APA) journal reviewer, academic editor, and proofreader for psychological manuscripts.
I am passionate about personal development, and I love to inspire and motivate my students through critical discussion, open dialogue, and experiential-based learning. I apply a transformative learning framework to promote self-reflection for my students and to create opportunities for them to share their insights vulnerably.
I look forward to working with individuals and groups to support their personal development and promote their academic skills related to psychology, academic English, research design and writing, as well as my other areas of interest pertaining to philosophy, spirituality, and meaning-making.
My teaching method involves creating psychological safety for open discussion to occur. I promote students critical thinking so that they can reflect on themselves and gain self-awareness.
My teaching style is professional and relaxed, which supports students in developing clear insights into their experiences, motivations, and values; so that they can better achieve their goals.
I incorporate mindfulness and philosophy into discussions as a means of promoting a broader mindset.
