Hello! My name is David Impey, and I live in London, England. I have been an educator for over thirty years, and have taught in four countries - South Africa, the UK, the UAE (Dubai) and India (Mumbai).

After sixteen years as a Head of Section and whole-school Principal of international schools in Dubai and Mumbai, I was Director of my own franchise Tutoring Centre in London for 3.5 years, and tutored English ages 7 - 16 and Maths to Year 7, online and in-person.

I have guided students from Primary levels through IGCSE, GCSE, International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years and IB Diploma, SL and HL. My specialisms are English and Literature, but I have also taught Maths to Year 7 and History and Geography to Year 8.

For ten years I tutored and mentored privately, in-person and online, supporting children from the age of 7 and students up to 18, as well as adults, the last with some business and legal English.

I believe strongly that personalised learning includes the best and most effective learning and teaching strategies:
• Every individual is different, and has areas of strength and other aspects which need to be developed;
• Consistent progress is the aim and the measure of success;
• Students should be guided to identify their own strengths and areas that cause blocks;
• They should understand exactly what they need to do to improve, how, and set next-step learning targets;
• After working towards targets, they evaluate progress, then repeat the steps.
• This enables students to develop the skills, attitudes, approaches and confidence to direct their own learning, be fully involved and enjoy improving.

I love teaching and learning, and for me the most exciting and stages are when students ‘click’, understand a new concept or mastered a new skill, and are proud and eager to move ahead.

I offer tutoring and mentoring in the following areas, or courses tailored to individual requirements:

• IB Diploma Extended Essay, Internal Assessment, MYP Personal Project;
• English for ages 7 to adult; Maths to Year 7; History and Geography to Year 8.
